Horseshoe Bend is meaningful to the public for numerous reasons. Visitors from around the world visit the park to learn about the events of March 27, 1814 and the Creek and Cherokee warriors and refugees, as well as the Tennessee Militia and US Soldiers that fought that day. Locals may remember hiking with their boy scout troop or visiting during a school trip as children. Indigenous people make pilgrimages to reconnect with their ancestral lands.
