2025 Distance Learning Programs

Great Sand Dunes offers free distance learning programs to classrooms and groups of all ages! The 2024 education year has ended, but you can request 2025 programs beginning in February.

Educators can connect with our Great Sand Dunes Education Ranger to learn more about geology (sand dunes, mountain building), ecology (wildlife, endemic insects, habitats, adaptations), cultural history, and the NPS mission. If you ever wondered about a career in the Park Service, you can learn more by interviewing a park ranger.

Our Education Ranger is happy to meet teacher needs with a 20-40 minute live program. If you are interested, you will need a computer, tablet, or device with a webcam, internet connection, and access to a video conference platform.

Our Education Ranger can meet you through Zoom, Google Meets, Teams and more. Great Sand Dunes is on Mountain Standard Time. Keep that in mind when scheduling your virtual field trip.

Beginning in February 2025, contact the Great Sand Dunes Education Ranger with the following information to request a distance learning program:

  • Group name, number of students, and student grade/age range

  • Preferred program or learning goals for your program

  • Video Conference Platform

  • Top three date and time choices (in Mountain Time) for your program
