Grand Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon Conservancy would like to invite you to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Cultural Demonstration Program.

In 2014 with only four demonstrators, the Cultural Demonstration Program began at Grand Canyon National Park. Now, a decade later, the program has over 200 tribal members from the 11 tribes traditionally associated with Grand Canyon and has worked with multiple tribal organizations.

The purpose of the Cultural Demonstration Program is to elevate the voices of members from the traditionally associated tribes. Demonstrations allow visitors to Grand Canyon National Park the opportunity to meet indigenous artists while they practice traditional and modern crafts.

Grand Canyon is not just a National Park, it is a sacred place and home to many. The Cultural Demonstration program has transformed Desert View into a place to celebrate, share, and learn about inter-tribal cultural heritage." -Superintendent Ed Keable

Saturday, July 6th (South Rim: Desert View)

Cultural Demonstrations with 20 amazing Indigenous artists!
Location: Desert View Watchtower

9:30 a.m.

Morning Prayer with Bennett Wakauta (Hualapai) & Welcome from NPS Ranger Dan Pawlak
Location: Desert View Ampitheater

 

10:30 a.m.

Dance Performance with Nuwu - Nagah Dancers (Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah - Shivwits Band)
Location: Desert View Ampitheater

3:30 p.m.

Ending Prayer with Dianna Sue White Dove Uqualla (Havasupai)

4:00 p.m.
