The entire southern area of Dead Horse Bay, including Glass Bottle Beach, is closed to the public. Crews are working in these areas using heavy brush clearing equipment and performing radiation surveys. Dead Horse Bay is located in Brooklyn, NYC.

Due to extremely hazardous conditions Gateway National Recreation Area has restricted access to sections of Jacob Riis Park. Erosion has created unsafe conditions from Bays 1-5, and portions of the eastern beach are closed. More
Gateway has three beaches designated for swimming: Jacob Riis Park, Great Kills Park and Sandy Hook.
Lifeguards are on duty at Great Kills Park, Jacob Riis Park and Sandy Hook from 10 am to 6 pm Memorial Day through Labor Day. There will be no lifeguards after Labor Day. Swiming is only allowed at lifeguarded beaches while lifeguards are on duty.
Bays 3-5 at Jacob Riis Park are closed to swimming and beach access.
Great Kills Park's lifeguards are on duty Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are no lifeguards Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
Sandy Hook's Lifeguards are on duty at beaches C, D, and G. There are no lifeguards at North Beach or Beach E.
