The Every Kid Outdoors program provides all current fourth grade students and their families with free access to national parks and more than 2,000 other federal public lands for a year. All fourth graders, including home school students, are eligible for the Every Kid Outdoors pass, which grants free entry for fourth graders, all children under age 16 in the group, and up to three accompanying adults (or an entire car for drive-in parks) to most federally managed lands and waters from September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. The pass does not cover expanded amenity fees such as camping or boat rides.
To obtain their free pass, fourth grade students visit the Every Kid Outdoors website, participate in a short educational activity, and download a voucher. Printed vouchers may be exchanged for a plastic pass at the Alaska Public Lands Information Center and other participating sites. Fourth graders must be present to exchange the voucher for a plastic pass and for free entry into parks (applicable at parks with entrance fees - Gates of the Arctic is free!).
Educators can visit the Every Kid Outdoors website, where they can print paper vouchers for each of their students and access educational activities related to federal lands and waters.
The goal of the Every Kid Outdoors program is to encourage fourth graders nationwide to explore, learn, and play in the spectacular places that belong to us all. By targeting fourth graders year after year, the program aims to ensure that all children in the U.S. have the opportunity to visit and enjoy their federal lands and waters by the time they are 11 years old.
