About the Historic Hangar at Pearson Air Museum

Pearson Air Museum's Historic Hangar was built in 1921, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Around 1924, it was moved to its current location by the Army Air Service.

Today, the Historic Hangar is located adjacent to Pearson Air Museum, a part of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The Historic Hangar features large, rolling aircraft doors that open wide, connecting the indoor space to an outdoor patio, making it ideal for events.

The Historic Hangar at Pearson Air Museum is a premier venue for weddings, banquets, celebrations of life, parties, and other large events.

Capacity

The Historic Hangar can accommodate different capacities based on how the space is used. Occupancy may not exceed 400 individuals theater style seating or 300 individuals banquet style seating, upon final floor plan approval. Grounds Occupancy shall not exceed 500 individuals, upon final floor plan approval.

Accessibility

The venue is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Accessible restrooms are available.

Equipment and Electricity

The Historic Hangar includes two accessible restrooms, tables, chairs, ceiling fans, a ceiling-mounted heater, and electricity access. Internet access may be available.

Parking

Pearson Air Museum's parking lot has 42 parking spaces available for use. The first 12 non-ADA parking spaces are reserved for museum visitors during operating hours. On-street parking is first-come first-serve along E 5th Street. Parking lots are not exclusive to the event organizers or attendees. No parking is permitted on any grassy area adjacent to Pearson Air Museum.

Fees and Costs

Short Term Leasing Rates

Weekends and Holidays: (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Holiday) $325 per hour between 7 am and 12 am (midnight). Minimum rental time of 4 hours. Set up and removal time also charged.

Weekdays: (Monday-Thursday; Excludes Holidays) $120 per daytime hour between 7 am and 5 pm. $200 per evening hour between 5 pm and 11 pm. Day and evening fees apply for events spanning day and evening hours. Minimum rental time of 4 hours. Set up and removal time also charged. 

Rates are subject to change. 

Additional Rent: Unanticipated costs incurred by the Lessor as a result of the use and occupancy of the Premises shall be due and owing immediately upon conclusion of the event. Such costs are considered additional rent and may include, but are not limited to, emergency services, security, and the costs necessary to remedy damage to park resources.

 

 

General Guidelines

• Your short term lease does not grant exclusive access to the grounds surrounding the Historic Hangar.
• Due to the archaeological significance of the site, ground disturbance, including staking, is not allowed.
• The releasing of balloons, doves or butterflies and throwing of rice, birdseed, flower petals or other natural or artificial material is prohibited.
• Certain flowers are allowed as long as they arrive and depart with the Lessee. Please coordinate with park staff.
• Torches, fires, grilling, cooking, and other sources of open flame are prohibited.
• Balloons are prohibited.
• Sound, audio, or music is prohibited from being broadcast at a level exceeding 60 decibels beyond a distance of 50 feet from the outdoor perimeter of the Historic Hangar at any time.
• Freestanding directional signs related to the event are permitted inside the leased area, and are to be removed immediately by the event. Affixing directional signage to government property is prohibited. Any posted signs will be removed. Please coordinate with park staff on the placement of event signs.
• Inflatable play structures, including but not limited to bounce houses and slides, are prohibited.
• Vehicles, including, but not limited to, horse-drawn and electric carts are prohibited outside of paved roadways.
• The sale of all merchandise, including, but not limited, to T-shirts, clothing, and arts and crafts, and vending of food/beverages on park property is prohibited.
• Fundraising or requests for donations are prohibited.
• Alcohol may be consumed on-site, but not be sold. If you anticipate serving alcohol at your event, please let the National Park Service staff know during the leasing process.
• No gum, Jellybeans, or gummy types of candy, e.g. gummy bears, Swedish Fish, licorice, or any other type of product that would stick to the floor, walls, or furnishings in a building.
• Before and immediately following the event, a National Park Service and Lessee representative will complete a Facility and Equipment Checklist indicating the condition of the Historic Hangar and surrounding property.
• Nailing, tacking, taping, hanging of items or hammocks are prohibited.
• All decorations and trash must be removed from the park within the allotted time period. If park staff must clean up or repair damage upon your departure, the lessee will be billed additional fees.
• Additional documents may be required, including a Banquet permit, Certificate of Insurance, and/or a permit from the City of Vancouver. The National Park Service staff member facilitating your request will discuss these with you as necessary, depending on the size, scope, and type of activity proposed.
