On Wednesday, July 3rd Author Scott Patchan will be at Fort Necessity Visitor Center signing copies of his new book George Washington in The French &Indian War. At 12 noon, Scott will speak concerning his book in the theatre at Fort Necessity National Battlefield Visitor Center.
On Saturday July 6th, the Westmoreland Archaeological Society will be setting up their artifact display at the Fort Necessity National Battlefield Visitor Center, including flint knapping demonstrations.
Sunday July 7th will be the last day for Fort Necessity National Battlefield’s temporary exhibit on the 250th observance of the American War of Independence. This temporary exhibit entitled the American Revolution Experience, is a collaborative project of the American Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This temporary exhibit is currently displayed at the Fort Necessity National Battlefield visitor center in the education room.
The battle of Fort Necessity was the start of the French & Indian War (1754-1760) and developed into a global conflict between France and Great Britain. Britain wins the war but unintentionally sets the stage for the coming American Revolution. Fort Necessity National Battlefield
Fort Necessity National Battlefield is a unit of the National Park Service and the site of the opening battle of the French and Indian War that ended with the removal of French power from North America.
