Bowie, Ariz. – The National Park Service announces the winter hours of operation for the visitor center at Fort Bowie National Historic Site, located in Bowie, Arizona. The Fort Visitor Center will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The grounds, including the ruins areas, hiking trails, and restrooms, are open daily from sunrise to sunset.

The fort visitor center will temporarily be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays through the winter season due to unexpected staffing shortfalls. The fort ruins are open every day by a self-guided three-mile interpretive loop trail from Apache Pass Road. Passport stamps are available on the Visitor Center porch.

This closure does not affect Visitor Center hours at Chiricahua National Monument and Coronado National Memorial; however, all three visitor centers will be closed on December 25, 2024 and again on January 1, 2025 in observance of the federal holidays.

For more information about visiting Fort Bowie National Historic Site, go to www.nps.gov/fobo or call the visitor center at 520-549-6751.
