Wage Determination
A determination of minimum wages or fringe benefits made under the Service Contract Act applicable to the employment in a given locality of one or more classes of service employees. (FAR 22.1001)
Walsh-Healey Public Contracts Act
Also referred to as the Walsh-Healey Public Contracts Act. Requires that (unless exempted), all contracts subject to the Act and entered into by any executive department, independent establishment, or other agency or instrumentality of the United States, or by the District of Columbia, or by any corporation (all the stock of which is beneficially owned by the United States) for the manufacture or furnishing of materials, supplies, articles, and equipment (referred to in this subpart as supplies) in any amount exceeding $10,000, must include or incorporate by reference the stipulations required by the Act pertaining to such matters as minimum wages, maximum hours, child labor, convict labor, and safe and sanitary working conditions. Warranty
A promise or affirmation given by a contractor to the Government regarding the nature, usefulness, or condition of the supplies or performance of services furnished under the contract. (FAR 46.701)
Warranty Period (Construction)
Warranty continues for a period of 1 year from the date of final acceptance of the work. If the Government takes possession (beneficial occupancy) of any part of the work before final acceptance, warranty continues for a period of 1 year from the date the Government takes possession.

Women-Owned Business Concern
A concern which is at least 51 percent owned by one or more women; or in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more women; and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more women. (FAR 52.204-5(b))
Women-Owned Small Business Concern
A small business concern:
- Which is at least 51 percent owned by one or more women; or, in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more women; and
- Whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more women. (FAR 19.001)
Work Hours and Safety Standards Act
Requires that certain contracts contain a clause specifying that no laborer or mechanic doing any part of the work contemplated by the contract shall be required or permitted to work more than 40 hours in any workweek unless paid for all such overtime hours at not less than 1-1/2 times the basic rate of pay. (FAR 22.301)
Workmanship
- The physical evidence of the crafts of a particular culture or people;
- The techniques and skills necessary to execute or construct a particular detail or feature.
