Are you interested in working at Crater Lake National Park?
Depending on the time of year, the National Park Service employs between 50 and 150 people at Crater Lake. Positions are advertised on the federal employment website USAJOBS. Some positions are seasonal in nature, others are year-round.
Summer positions at Crater Lake are usually advertised in December, January, and February. Each year, the park hires summer seasonal rangers for a variety of jobs. These include fee collection, interpretation, trail crew, maintenance, wildland fire, lake research, botany, and wildlife biology.
If you are a high school student, college student, graduate student, or have recently graduated from school, another option is to pursue a position through the federal government's Pathways Program.
Another way to work in the park is to seek employment with the park's concessioner, Explor Crater Lake. Explor Crater Lake is a private company that operates the park's lodging, camping, food services, gift shops, and boat tours. They typically have a variety of positions available.
Note: By law, the National Park Service is allowed to hire only US citizens for its paid positions. Applicants from other countries, however, are allowed to work for Crater Lake Hospitality.
