CARLSBAD, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Carlsbad Field Office and Carlsbad Caverns National Park will co-host a nature hike and educational birding talk at Rattlesnake Springs, 69 Rattlesnake Springs Road, Carlsbad, on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A park ranger and BLM staff members will present information on birds, their habitat, and feather types. The talk will include tangible examples of feather types. Participants will learn how to recognize birds during a fun, informal nature hike.

The talk’s organizers recommend wearing close-toed shoes, jacket, sun protection and long pants. They also encourage participants to bring water, binoculars and cameras.

“Families, bird enthusiasts, or people who just want a lovely winter hike are all welcome to stop by,” said Outdoor Recreation Planner Ashley Shreves, who will be one of the BLM presenters during the talk.
