2024 Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

Come experience the national parks! All National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone (other fees, including timed entry or reservation fees, may apply). Mark your calendar for these entrance fee-free dates:

• Monday, January 15 — Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
• Saturday, April 20 — First Day of National Park Week
• Wednesday, June 19 — Juneteenth
• Sunday, August 4 — The Great American Outdoors Act
• Saturday, September 28 — National Public Lands Day
• Monday, November 11 — Veterans Day

 

Entrance Fee

Cape Lookout Entrance Fee - Free

There is no charge for coming to Cape Lookout National Seashore. The Harkers Island Visitor Center and the Beaufort Visitor Information Center can be reached by car. All other locations require a trip by ferry. There is a charge for the ferry. Contact the ferry company for costs and schedules.

 

Ferry tickets

Ferries to the barrier islands charge for their tickets. Contact the ferry company directly for costs and schedules. Check the List of Authorized Ferry Services for more information.

Camping/Lodging Fees

Cabins: For information on renting a cabin, their amenities and other information, visit our Lodging page. Cabins may only be reached by taking a ferry out to the barrier island.

Camping: For information on camping on the barrier islands, visit our Beach Camping page.

Fee Based Activities

There is a fee for some activities at Cape Lookout National Seashore, including Lighthouse Climbs, Horse Sense and Survival Tours, and the Evening at the Cape. Each activity's individual page will include more information on costs, dates, and times.

There are also fees for staying in the Great Island Cabins and Long Point Cabins. Please be aware, Group Camping, Long-Term Parking, and other Special Use Permit activities may have fees associated with them as well.

Passes

Cape Lookout National Seashore does not currently issue the America the Beautiful Passes. The America the Beautiful Passes also do not offer any discounts in our park.
