Thanks to our friends at the Chesapeake Conservancy, we are able to see some of our favorite species in action. The peregrine falcon is a top predator in the avian world, able to reach speeds of over 180mph in a dive. The osprey, also known as the "Fish Hawk," lives and hunts in coastal areas where fish are abundant. Great blue herons live in colonies called rookeries. These tall, bluish-gray wading birds live year-round in marshes and wetlands throughout the region. |
