Erosion at Bryce Canyon has created a world of impressive geological formations, but for plant life, this adverse environment causes special difficulties for plant survival and reproduction. The direct sunlight on exposed ridges creates one extreme habitat while the lack of sunlight in shady forests create the opposite extreme. With its severely compacted "soil", poor aeration and extreme temperatures, any plant that survives here must possess an inherent hardiness. Below you will find some of our more commonly seen wildflowers here at Bryce Canyon.
