Burnt Mesa Trail

In late summer, wildflowers such as lupine and paintbrush often bloom in profusion on this trail.

The Burnt Mesa Trailhead is located less than .5 miles west of TA 49 on Highway 4. This easy trail is relatively flat and an excellent place to see summer wildflowers, birds, and butterflies. The 2.5 mile (one way) trail traverses the mesas and ends at a steep drop-off into a side canyon of Frijoles Canyon.

 

Burnt Mesa Trail is relatively flat with expansive views.

Burnt Mesa trail is also one of the best places to see some of the earliest flowers of the season such as Easter Daisies that can start blooming in March.
