Animals

Aztec Ruins encompasses 320 acres of diverse habitat supporting a wide variety of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. Riparian and pinon-juniper woodland areas, along with patches of once-cultivated grassy fields, orchards, and desert scrub support 28 documented mammal species, at least 70 bird species, 3 amphibians and 10 reptiles. As residential developments expand, Aztec Ruins has become an increasingly important haven for three species of concern in spite to the park's relatively small size.
