There are four distinct seasons in East Tennessee, but temperature and weather conditions can vary widely within those seasons. Spring and Fall are generally pleasant with frequent rain showers. Summer and Winter ranges can be extreme. The President's Homestead is not climate controlled and may be closed at times during excessive highs or lows in the summer and winter.

The Andrew Johnson NHS Visitor Center is located at 101 N. College Street, Greeneville, TN, 37743. Begin your visit at the Visitor Center where you will receive orientation to the other parts of the park. The ranger or attendant at the front desk can provide general information, brochures, and directions.
The Visitor Center houses the site's 13 1/2 minute film "Defender of the Constitution," the Presidential museum, Andrew Johnson's original Tailor Shop, and the Eastern National bookstore.
Summer Hours: Open daily April-November from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winter Hours: Open Wednesday through Sunday December-March from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. About Touring the Homestead Guided tours are available for the presidential Homestead on Main Street within the parameters of park seasonal hours. The home is open at 10:00 & 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 & 3:00 p.m. Tickets are availalbe until 15 minutes prior to the tour. This allows time for the visitors and ranger to arrive at the home safely, as well as to prepare the home for tours. Please Note: On days with limited staffing, Homestead tours may be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with the Visitor Center temporarily closed during tour times. Tour size is limited to 10 people If you are a group of 11 or more, please contact the Visitor Center (423-638-3551). The Homestead is located 2 1/2 blocks from the Visitor Center, and visitors may either walk or drive. There is an onsite parking lot at the Homestead. Tours of the Homestead require standing, walking, and negotiating three flights of stairs. The tour is not recommended for small children. There are no public facilities at the Homestead. In the summer and winter, visitors should be advised that over half the rooms have outside porch entrances and that they should dress accordingly. Temperatures fluctuate and can be extreme during the summer and winter months. In times of excessive heat, cold, or inclement weather be aware that the Homestead tours may be cancelled.
