HODGENVILLE, Ky – Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will be closed on Sunday, January 5, 2025 due to an impending winter storm. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from January 5, 4:00 AM EST until January 6, 1:00 PM EST. The storm is predicted to produce significant amounts of snow followed by freezing rain and significant amounts of ice resulting in hazardous travel conditions, downed trees, and power outages. The park will be closed on Sunday, January 5, 2025 due to the weather forecast and to ensure staff and visitor safety. The closure includes the following:
- Birthplace Unit – Complete closure
- Main entrance gate, Visitor Center and parking lot, trails, restrooms, Memorial Building
- Picnic Area, parking lot, shelter, restrooms, and trails
- Maintenance facility, and park headquarters/administrative offices
- Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek – Complete closure
- Main entrance gates, parking lot, grounds, and trails
- (The Knob Creek Tavern is closed for the season, so this closure does not impact its operation
