The South Rim’s South Entrance is open 24 hours/day. Overnight accommodations, and some visitor services are available. More

Desert View and the East Entrance remain closed because of COVID-19 lockdowns on the neighboring Navajo Nation. You must enter and exit the park through the South Entrance. (Tusayan)

The North Rim is open for Day Use Only. The Lodge and Campground have closed for the 2020 season. Details

South Rim: (Open Year-round)

The South Rim of the park is usually open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The South Rim includes Grand Canyon Village and Desert View. All services are available year-round. Reservations are strongly recommended during spring, summer and fall. Some facilities close during winter months.

Limited Shuttle Bus Service Has Resumed

Service was suspended in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. In an effort to protect public health and follow public health guidelines, shuttle bus service will be significantly modified. Please read the following carefully:

  • The scenic Hermit Road Route (Red Route) operates from 5 am until 1 hour after sunset. Cars are not permitted. More >
  • Kaibab Rim Route - Eastbound (Orange Route) between the Visitor Center and the South Kaibab Trailhead, operates from 5 am until one hour after sunset each day. More >
  • The Hiker Express Shuttle runs daily from the Backcountry Information Center to the South Kaibab Trailhead at 6, 7, and 8 am. No additional stops are made. Hikers can park their cars in Parking Lot D, by the Backcountry Information Center. More >

  • The Village Route will not be in operation.
  • The Tusayan Route from the Visitor Center to the town of Tusayan, will not be in operation.
  • The Kaibab Rim Route - Westbound from the Visitor Center to Yavapai Geology Museum will not be in operation.
 

NORTH RIM

North Rim roads are closed to all vehicles between December 1st and May 15th, and no visitor services are available.
