Choosing an Entrance Pass

Do you have or qualify for a discounted America the Beautiful Pass?

If you already have an America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, that's the only entrance pass you need. Seniors, military, visitors with a permanent disability, and families with a 4th grader are eligible for a free or discounted America the Beautiful pass.

For Vehicles

If you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass.

Costs for vehicles with more than 15 passengers are listed below under Organizations and Businesses.

This pass covers the pass holder and up to 15 passengers of a single, private (non-commercial) vehicle at Walnut Canyon National Monuments for 1-7 days.

For Individuals without a Vehicle

If you enter the park on a bicycle or on foot and are at least 16 years old, you need your own entrance pass. Children under the age of 16 don't need an entrance pass.

Admits one individual bicyclist, hiker, or pedestrian visiting the facility without a private vehicle. Good for Walnut Canyon National Monument for 1-7 days. A pass is not required for individuals 15 or younger.

For Organizations & Businesses

Bona fide educational institutions visiting for non-recreational purposes whose visit pertains directly to established curriculum are exempt from paying entry fees. Apply for an educational fee waiver at least 4 weeks in advance by submitting an educational fee waiver. Please see the below link to access the waiver.

Non-commercial groups pay the per person fee up until the cost exceeds that of the commercial rate for the same size vehicle.

A commercial group consists of one or more persons traveling on an itinerary that has been packaged, priced, or sold for leisure/recreational purpose by an organization that realizes financial gain through the provision of the service.

America the Beautiful Passes are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Passholders must show valid photo identification (ID) with each pass.

How to Get an America the Beautiful Pass

In Person (Recommended)

Passes can be purchased or picked up at over 1,000 federal recreation sites.

Order Online, Receive by Mail

To receive your pass by mail, order online at the USGS Online Store . Online orders are for physical passes, not digital passes, and may take up to three weeks to be processed and delivered. Order receipts may not be used in place of a physical pass. We recommend ordering at least three weeks in advance of your visit, or picking up a pass in person instead.

2025 Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

Credit Card Only Transactions - As of October, 2020 - Entrance Fees and America The Beautiful Pass sales are Credit/Debit card only on site. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Cash sales of Flagstaff Annual, Interagency Annual, and 7-day Private Vehicle passes are provided by Western National Parks Association in the park store (sales dependent on pass inventory/availability).


 

School Groups

Commercial Tour Groups

Commercial tour operators may pay their entry fee ahead of time by visiting the pay.gov website. Please keep in mind you will need to bring your completed form with you to the park on the day of visit.

 

Special Use Permits

Special Use Permits are required for all commercial filming, special gatherings such as weddings, and any backcountry access. Visit our Permits Page for more information.

Researchers wishing to do work inside the monument will need to go through our online permitting process here.

 

Important Changes to America the Beautiful Pass and Park Specific Pass

Beginning January 1st, 2024, Interagency Annual (America the Beautiful) Passes and Flagstaff Area National Monuments Park Specific Passes will have 1 signature line instead of 2. This change is to ensure consistency throughout the Interagency Pass Program.
