While troops did march into Valley Forge during winter-like conditions, the challenges they faced did not so much stem from the cold, but rather from other problems. Thanks to extensive research, scholars now know quite a lot about the weather in 1777 and what it was really like for the solders and camp followers at Valley Forge.
