Trail Information

Before heading out to the trailhead, please review any trail information, weather conditions, and driving directions. Cell phone connectivity is very limited throughout the park and you may not have reception on the way to and on the hiking trail. Please also check for trail closures, as some trails are closed during certain months of the year.

Hike Smart, Hike Safe

• Trails are not maintained nor are they regularly patrolled. Travel carefully and at your own risk.
• Wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Sneakers or sandals will not provide proper support. Well-cushioned socks and a hiking stick may be helpful on difficult trails.
• Bring plenty of drinking water.
• Insect repellent may be needed. Always check yourself for ticks.
• Watch for snakes sunning on exposed rocks. Never feed or disturb wildlife.
• Keep pets leashed at all times.
• Pack It In, Pack It Out: Most of the trails do not have trash cans at trailheads and none of them have trash cans on the trails. Don't litter and take any trash with you, off the trail. This includes pet waste.

 

 

Take a Hike! Patch Program

Join the National Park Service and get outdoors, get great exercise, and earn a free Upper Delaware Take A Hike! patch.

1. Hike all of the trails listed on the Take A Hike! brochure. Simply send an email requesting a copy of the brochure. Physical copies are also available at the Zane Grey Museum.

2. Record your hikes (see checklist template below).

3. Return the checklist to any Upper Delaware location to receive your free patch.

All hikers should comply with state and local guidance and follow Leave No Trace principles.
