Thing to Do
Visit Lincoln Living Historical Farm
Visit an 1820s farm like the one where Abraham Lincoln grew up.
The Lincoln Living Historical Farm does not retain any of the original structures from Abraham Lincoln's time but was built in an attempt to depict a typical farm of 1820s Indiana. It incorporates some of what is known of the Lincoln farm and activities which were a common part of the Lincoln family's daily life.
The farm is an exhibit-in-place with the buildings closed when not staffed. The farm is staffed as our staffing levels allow.
Park staff working at the farm are doing any number of chores throughout the day, such as chopping firewood, milking the cow, and feeding the animals. The farmer takes care of the garden or crop fields including plowing, planting, cultivating, and harvesting the crops. The concept of the farm operation is one of a continuous hour-by-hour, day-by-day display.
