Welcome to James A. Garfield National Historic Site your visit starts in the Visitor Center. Sign up to take a guided tour of the home, browse the exhibits, and watch the 18 minute biographical movie of James A. Garfield. Also available is the America's National Parks bookstore.

Visitors can spend a short or long time in the Visitor Center depending what they'd like to experience. We offer an 18 minute biographical movie and exhibits filled with artifacts that chronical the life and death of the 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield.
Activity
Museum Exhibits
Visitors can request to watch the 18-minute site movie as well as browse the exhibits that are in the museum. Exhibits and artifacts are arranged chronologically. Some of the subjects include Garfield’s early life, school days, Civil War, Washington D.C., the 1880 Republican Convention and Presidency. Also artifacts from his funeral can be found in the exhibit area.

Pets are allowed on the premises of James A. Garfield National Historic Site but not through the buildings. If a service animal is present they are allowed in all buildings.

The Visitor Center is located behind the home inside the 1893 Carriage and Horse Barn on the property.
Reservations
No
No reservation is needed for the Visitor Center. Reservations are needed for a guided tour of the Garfield Home. Call the site at (440) 255-8722 for reservations.

Summer season begins May 1 to October 31. The site is open 7 days a week 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Winter season starts Novemeber 1 to April 30. The site is only open Friday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
