Start at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center

Named in honor of the man who served as Secretary of Agriculture (1933-1940) and Vice-President during Franklin Roosevelt's third term, the Henry A. Wallace Center offers an array of services designed to enhance your visit to Hyde Park. The Lobby and orientation areas are where you begin your Roosevelt experience.
The visitor center provides information on tours, exhibits, gardens, trails, activities, and special events. Our experinced staff can help you plan an itinerary for your visit to the Home of FDR, Val-Kill, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and other nearby attractions.
The 140-seat theater features a high-definition film written and produced by Tom Spain Productions. The twenty minute film, Rendezvous with History, features interviews with two of the Roosevelt grandchildren, Curtis Roosevelt and Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, as well as historic footage.
Located adjacent to the lobby, the New Deal Store sells a wide variety of campaign, political and patriotic items, reproductions, sculptures, medals and coins, china, posters, specialty items, recordings, toys and games, glassware, and apparel. It also features a large selection of books on Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Uncle Sam's Canteen offers visitors a convenient place to grab a coffee and pastry, or enjoy a delicious lunch between tours. Adorned with patriotic decor Uncle Sam's offers a diverse menu in a beautiful setting. It is open April 1 through October 31 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
