The Visitor Center at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site is a single-level building at street level. Outside of the Visitor Center is a parking lot for vehicles as well as a ramp for those who are handicapped and steps that lead up the hill to the historic home. Inside of the Visitor Center you will find an information desk where a ranger or volunteer is stationed, exhibits, artifacts, a kiosk with information and activities, the site bookstore, restrooms, a water fountain, and an auditorium with seating where a 19-minute film "Fighter for Freedom: The Frederick Douglass Story" is shown.

The Visitor Center at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site is open everyday:
April 1 through October 31 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
November 1 through March 31 - 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Parking Lot: There are two designated accessible spaces near the visitor center entrance. The parking lot is paved.
