Fishing at Fort Pulaski
Fort Pulaski is located on Cockspur Island at the confluence of the north and south channels of the Savannah River. The tidal marsh makes up over 90% of the National Monument and is comprised of creeks and rivers. These waterways are teeming with a variety of recreational and sport fishing opportunities for the angler.

Lazaretto Creek Fishing Pier - Located at the far end of the Lazaretto Creek parking area. Tybee Island Bridge will be visible from the fishing pier. Park only in designated spaces. Fishing is not allowed from the Lazaretto Creek boat ramp. Open dawn to dusk.

Fishing is allowed at:
Cockspur Island Bridge - Fishing is allowed at the base of the bridge on the rocky area from dawn to dusk. Fishing from the bridge during park hours, including extended hours, is prohibited. Park business hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.- The bridge is still an active roadway after hours for employees and residents. Please leave space for at least one car to pass. Do not block the gate arm. All vehicles must park south of the bridge outside of park hours. The area north of the bridge is closed to vehicle and foot traffic when the park is closed.

Requirements
- A valid Georgia fishing license.
- Parking in designated areas.
- Adherence to Georgia DNR guidelines and limits.
Prohibited Actions
- Fishing in the fort moat, feeder canals, and the entire ditch system of the park.
- Blocking the roadway.
- Fishing off the Cockspur Island Bridge from 8:30am-5:00pm.
- Parking on grass.
- Anchoring or beaching a boat anywhere along the shoreline of Cockspur Island.
- Littering. All trash must be removed and taken with you. There are trash cans available at the Visitor Center during park hours.
- Entering the marsh.
- Leaving crab traps unattended.
- Collecting oysters outside of Oyster Creek. Permit required.
- Collecting Fiddler or Horseshoe Crabs.
- Commercial fishing.
Safety
- Beware of slippery rocks and sharp oyster shells when fishing riverbanks.
- Wear sunscreen. There is little to no shade in fishing areas.
- Use insect repellent and wear protective clothing.
- First Aid is available at the Visitor Center during park hours.

Accessibility Information
Fishing from the top of the South Channel Bridge is accessible. The bridge and the ramp to the bridge are paved. Parking is available in pull offs before the bridge. Do not park on the grass.
The base of the South Channel Bridge is made of large, rough rocks without an area to stand. Requires climbing down embankment.
Lazaretto Creek Fishing Pier is boardwalk, with paved access.
The West End Fishing Area is a flat dirt area. There are large, sharp rocks along the waterline. Picture above is the West End Fishing Area.
The base of the South Channel Bridge is made of large, rough rocks without an area to stand. Requires climbing down embankment.
Lazaretto Creek Fishing Pier is boardwalk, with paved access.
