Become a Junior Ranger at Walnut Canyon

Join Miguel the Mule Deer in exploring the human history, geology, and wildlife of Walnut Canyon National Monument. Pick up a booklet at any of the Flagstaff Area National Monuments and complete at least four activities to earn a badge. Your booklet can be turned in at the visitor center for Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, Sunset Crater Volcano, or to receive your badge. Pick up the booklets for the other two monuments to get all three badges!

The time it takes to complete your booklet will depend on the activities that you choose. If you don't complete your activities while you're at the park a ranger can deputize one of the adults with you and give them your badge so you can finish your booklet later. You can also choose to mail your booklet back to the park to receive your badge.

Junior Ranger Program
The Wupatki Jr. Ranger booklet is full of fun and educational activities to help you explore your national park. Activities are organized by engagement levels instead of age groups so Jr. Rangers of any age or ability can choose the activities that are best for them. Complete at least four activities to become a Wupatki National Monument Jr. Ranger and earn your badge.

Leashed pets are allowed on the Rim Trail but not on the Island Trail. ADA service animals are welcome on all trails and in all buildings.

The booklet and badge are completely free. Regular park fees apply for visiting the monument.
