Through a live and interactive lesson with a park ranger via the Internet, students will examine the many roles women filled at Fort Larned.
Frontier forts, despite their military purposes and remote environment, were not exclusively home to male soldiers. A number of women and children lived at these forts as well. Many women were the wives of officers or enlisted men. Social class largely determined their daily duties.
Program Length: 20 - 30 minutes long.
