Virtual Tour of Bering Land Bridge National Preserve

Welcome to Bering Land Bridge National Preserve! Join us from the comfort of your own classroom as we explore one of the nation’s most remote national park units. Learn about the rugged and wild landscape of the tundra and what it takes for plants and animals to survive in this challenging environment.

Program Details

Bookings must be made at least 1 week in advance. Upon booking, a confirmation email requesting further details will be sent to the provided email address. A 10 to 15 minute test connection call is REQUIRED before the program start date, and must be booked through a link in the confirmation email.

Programs are offered through Microsoft Teams or Zoom. If you would rather connect via Zoom, please send the relevant Zoom links to bela_interpretation@nps.gov. The National Park Service may attend Zoom meetings by invite only.

The program is FREE and designed for students grades 6-8. The total length of the program is approximately 45 minutes, including time reserved for student questions.

Program Objectives

1. Students will learn where Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is located and what makes up its landscape.
2. Students will understand the relationship between permafrost and the landscape of the tundra including maar lakes, thermokarsts, polygons, and pingos.
3. Students will learn what kinds of plants, birds, land mammals, and marine mammals are found at Bering Land Bridge National Preserve.
