Palo Alto Battlefield NHP is recruiting teachers for the Teacher Ranger Teacher program (TRT). This is a professional development program opportunity for K-12 Educators.This program focuses on giving educators an opportunity to learn about the National Park Service educational resources, while allowing them to expand their own learn and earn continuing education graduate credits though a partnership with the University of Colorado-Denver (CU-Denver).Palo Alto Battlefield NHP has hosted TRT programs in the past with great success and we are looking forward to working with our next TRT to develop lessons/programs to share with the community.

What will the TRT do?

  • Create self-guided field trip programs and activities

  • Work with park rangers and subject matter experts

  • Experience behind-the-scenes operations at a national park

Where?

  • Palo Alto Battlefield and Resaca de la Palma Battlefield units

    • Palo Alto: 7200 Paredes Line Rd. Brownsville, TX

    • Resaca de la Palma: 1024 Paredes Line Rd. Brownsville, TX

When?

  • Work 240 hours between June 12-July 30, 2023

Is there park housing?

  • Park housing is not available.

What do I get?

  • $3,000 Stipend

  • Earn three graduate credit hours
