About: The speaker series is a monthly public event designed to share information on a range of topics related to the natural and cultural resources of the Indiana Dunes, Northwest Indiana, and the Great Lakes. The forum is open to a wide range of presenters and may include local scientists, resource managers, community partners, federal and non-federal agency partners, and educators. While the presentations are generally aimed at a young adult and adult audience, they are open to families and any science-minded, nature-loving, curious people.
How to Join: Currently, this event is only being offered as an in-person event held on the third Friday of the month in the auditorium at the Indiana Dunes National Park (Dorothy Buell) Visitor Center on State Rd. 49 in Porter, Indiana. Presentations start at 5:30pm and run until 6:30pm. The program is followed by live music that starts at 7:30pm.
Are You Looking for More of a Family Focus? Families and kids can join a ranger before the seminar begins for Junior Science Friday at the Indiana Dunes. Starting at 5:00pm, families can participate in activities and learning that reflect the topic of the night. Kids are welcome to join the science seminar at 5:30pm or continue with junior programming with the ranger. The Junior programming is designed primarily for kids and teens from kindergarten through middle school.
