The concept of preserving history can be challenging for students to understand. What does it mean to preserve history and who does this job? In this lesson, students will learn what it means to "preserve" the past, what can be preserved (artifacts, stories, places, etc) as well as the different careers who work with preserving history every day, from librarians, to archivists, park rangers and curators. Students will also learn basic vocabulary regarding the concept of preservation, as well as discover their personal role in preserving history through the items they collect and keep in their own lives.
