"Mystery in a Cajun Community" is a 1.5 hour program on-site at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice, Louisiana. Students will work together to solve a fictional mystery in Mamou, a local Louisiana small town near the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center. In 1950, a crawfish farmer's traps kept getting knocked over, and it's up to the students to solve the mystery through analyzing texts and performing their own investigation.

Through this education program, students will read and synthesize various types of writing including informational text, first person narratives, third person narratives, and scientific text. All the text relates to aquaculture, Cajun culture, and nature of South Louisiana. Through this activity, students will improve literacy skills and simultaneously learn about Cajun culture and crawfishing.

Who kept knocking over Farmer McDonald's crawfish traps? How could he have stopped it from happening again? Students will work to solve the mystery and shed light on this small town mystery.
