Duration: 30-45 minutes
Activity:
Students will begin their museum visit by watching the nine-minute orientationfilm. Following the movie, teams of two or three students will receive a sheet ofquestions on a clipboard and a pencil and work together to answer the questions using exhibit text.
Procedures:
- Park rangers or volunteers will prepare copies of the question sheet and answer keys the day prior to field trip.
- A ranger will brief students and teachers about the museum activity, and any other scheduled programs, upon arrival.
- Students, teachers, and chaperones will move into the orientation film theater and watch the movie.
- Teachers will receive a copy of the answer key so they can assist students in locating answers.
- Teachers will gather clipboards and pencils and bring them to the visitor center desk at the end of the activity. Teachers will receive all completed sheets.
- Food and drinks not permitted in the museum.
- Speak in whispers.
- Do not cut in front other visitors when viewing exhibits.
- Do not lean against exhibits when writing.
- Do not activate audiovisual exhibits until all questions are answered.
