Learn the importance of prairies and prairie life. The park ranger will guide students through a series of interactive presentations and activities. The program can include the 15 minute introductory park film and tour of the earthlodge if the students haven't seen them yet. The following interactive presentations and activities support learning about biodiversity within a prairie ecosystem.
- Prairie vs Farms: Why are each important?
- Prairie Puppet Show: What happens if one of these species is taken away?
- Prairie Scavenger Hunt: How many species can YOU find in the prairie? Partners collect prairie stamps as they look for items on their prairie scavenger hunt paper. Note: There is a long and short version of this activity depending on your timeframe. EARLY FALL OR LATE SPRING (This is the best time to see different flowers blooming in the prairie.)
- Prairie Trail: Can you find the answers on the interactive signs within this short hike through a prairie restoration plot? FALL ONLY (This depends on the scheduled prescribed burn on this restoration plot.)
