People who lived during the Victorian Era (1837-1901) were exposed to many dangerous chemicals and poisons in the everyday objects in their homes. Critical areas of the home, from the kitchen to the bathroom, also created hidden dangers which killed and injured people frequently.  Students will learn about the common dangers in homes during the Victorian Era and the development of consumer safety and food safety standards as a result of the exposures to poisons in everyday products.
