One of the Primary roles of First Lady has been to be the hostess of the White House. Within these duties includes the responcibility of decorating the house for Christmas. More recent and mondern First Ladies have taken this tradition and used it as a way to support and exemplify their new roles in becoming public stewards of various causes and incorporated them into their decorations. In this program your student will learn about these First Ladies, their causes and passions and how they used the publicity of the White House Christmas tradition to their advantage.
