Essential Question
How does the legacy of a President impact how they are remembered?
Objective
Analyze and identify the provided images of past US Presidents. Briefly discuss the significant events of each and/ or how they are remembered. From left to right, organize them in chronological order.
Background
This activity helps students to understand how everyone, famous or not, has a legacy they will leave behind. This could also be a good lesson for self-reflection oe goal setting.
There are several Reader's Theater scripts available for Presidents. We are working to get the licensure for one. Stay tuned.
Preparation
The Birthplace Home is staged with talking points but can only accommodate groups of 12 or less at one time. If a school needs to bring a bus load (44+) of students, then the teaching and park staff will have to work together to formulate exercises and activities to engage the students while they wait for the tour and reinforce the information provided during the visit to the home.
Since this activity is based on the American Presidency, this can be used as a pre or post tour tool.
The park has a supply of these images on hand for teacher use or teachers/ facilitators can make their own copies with the enclosed file if they prefer to conduct the activity prior to arrival.

Enrichment Activities
For Project-based Learning, students could be assigned a specific person to reasearch and complete a presentation to demonstrate understanding of the assigned President's legacy.
Students could reenact or dress up as the assigned person for a class presentation.
To incorporate technology, students could use Green Screen technology to take the audience through an account of the person's influences on American culture and society.
