A wayside is a panel that shares information. The panels are designed to be colorful and packed with information so it is a fantastic way to explore and learn about Acadia National Park.
This scavenger hunt follows waysides open and accessible during the winter months. Each stop has waysides that will help answer student questions, and the scavenger hunt ends with a bonus question that can be found using the circle letters from the questions above. There is also a bonus question where students design there own wayside to teach people something they have learned or something they know a lot about.
Safety: Acadia is a winter wonderland. Like any other place in the winter it is important to come prepared. There are limited restrooms, and building facilities. Wear weather appropriate clothing, know the weather, and watch where you step. Waysides are not cleared in the winter so it is important to be prepared to walk through several inches of snow and ice to find some of this information. Wear snow boots, cleats, etc. and maintain situational awareness.
