The National Park Service does not charge an Entrance Fee to Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island. Purchase of tickets is required for ferry transportation to the islands. Fees for ferries, parking, special tours or special permits are not covered by annual passes or NPS Fee Free Days. These individuals will often try to scam people through misrepresentation and over-charging. We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. The only on-site location to purchase authorized tickets is the Statue City Cruises official ticket office inside Castle Clinton in The Battery. Plan ahead if possible, and avoid these scammers selling overpriced and/or fake tickets. National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands PassesThese passes provide free access to National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges that charge entrance fees. These passes do not apply at the Statue of Liberty National Monument & Ellis Island, which does not charge an entrance fee. The cost of the ferry ticket is not an entrance fee but a transportation fee. There is no additional charge to visit the museum on Liberty Island and Ellis Island. This is the only ticket available when crown and pedestal reservations are full. General Admission tickets do not get you access inside the statue or pedestal. Statue of Liberty - Pedestal ReservationJan 1–Dec 31 Required to access the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty Cost $0.00 Pedestal tickets are limited and reservations are required. Pedestal tickets allow visitors to access up to the top of the pedestal, which includes lower pedestal levels. These are purchased online only through Statue City Cruises. Statue of Liberty - Crown ReservationJan 1–Dec 31 Required to access the crown of the Statue of Liberty Cost $0.30 Crown tickets are limited and reservations are required. Crown tickets allow visitors to access the crown of the statue, which includes a walk up 162 steps from the feet of the statue to the crown. There is no elevator access to the crown. These are purchased online only through Statue City Cruises. The cost of the ferry ticket is not an entrance fee but a transportation fee. There is no additional charge to visit the museum on Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
