It is often stated that a new park unit remains in its infancy for the first 10 years after it is established. Our park was established on October 30, 2020. We have a long way to go and to grow! We appreciate your feedback, concerns, and support along the way while we plant our feet. Follow the journey of the park on our Facebook and Instagram! You can always reach us at: STGE_Visitor_Info@nps.gov

Our 2016 Special Resource Study found a need for direct NPS management of a new park unit in Ste. Genevieve to enhance preservation and provide for the comprehensive interpretation of the town as a whole. We are prepared to take on our mission knowing that the French settlement story is the centerpiece. That story was distinctive in many ways in Ste Genevieve. In addition to the French, many other groups of people influenced these first Europeans to arrive on the West banks of the Mississippi River in present-day Missouri. Over time, the “Frenchness” that these early settlers brought with them morphed into something different and unique, but its presence can still be felt here today through its architecture and traditions.

The National Park Service is here to serve all Americans, and we are charged with Telling All Americans’ Stories!

Historic Structures Report

What is a Historic Structures Report?
It is a planning document that is commissioned by the National Park Service to guide the park in the treatment of a historic structure. The content of the report can vary depending on the scope of the work, but it helps managers with recommendations to important decisions pertaining to preservation, interpretation, and/or rehabilitation.
What is the status of the Historic Structures Reports for the park?
The park is currently working on the review and finalization of the Bauvais-Amoureux House and Jean Baptiste Valle House Historic Structures Reports. The park recently began the process of completing a Historic Structure Report for Green Tree Tavern and the Delassus-Kern House, which should be completed by the end of 2024.

Cultural Landscape Report

What is a Cultural Landscape Report?
A cultural landscape report (CLR) is the primary guide to treatment and use of a cultural landscape. A cultural landscape is a space where people and nature interact and a space that has been impacted historically by people.
What is the status of the Cultural Landscape Report for the park?
This year the park started creating a cultural landscape report that will help us plan how best to use, preserve, and protect the park as a cultural space.
