Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) is looking for service providers for two competitive Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) to provide firewood vending for the Platte River Campground in Benzie County and D. H. Day Campground in Leelanau County for calendar years 2024 and 2025.
Separate applications must be submitted for each location. The entire application information package may be downloaded at Commercial Use Authorizations - Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov). A site visit is scheduled for both campgrounds on February 23, 2024. The D. H. Day Campground will open from 9am to 10 am., followed by the Platte River Campground from 11am to noon.
There is a $350.00 nonrefundable fee to process an application. The CUAs will be valid from the date of award to December 31, 2026, and all approved service providers will be listed on the National Lakeshore’s website as an authorized CUA holder.
Applications will be accepted in a two-stage process during a designated “open season” - beginning February 9, 2024, and ending March 8, 2024.The first stage is completed through the online CUA application program (https://cua.nps.gov) and the second stage of the application process is a narrative response to questions which must be either emailed or snail mailed to:
