A large pile of dirt next to two long corrugated metal culvert pipes completely block a narrow road in the mountains. A yellow and black piece of construction equipment with the word "Cat" works on the road behind the pile.

Current Road Construction — NO TRAFFIC IMPACTS AT THIS TIME

Mineral King Road (2025 - 2027)

Mineral King Road is a narrow, curvy mountain road that enters the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park. The Mineral King area begins 9.4 miles (15.1 km) or a 45-minute drive above its junction with Highway 198, just before Lookout Point.

There will be occasional road construction on Mineral King Road through 2027. During active construction, there may be road closures and traffic delays. Visitors will have to pass through the road construction to access the Mineral King area. Within the construction zone, active construction sites may move from day to day. At times, some campgrounds, trailheads, or private inholdings (such as Silver City Resort), may be in the construction zone.

This construction is within the Mineral King area, separate from the main areas of Sequoia National Park. Any closures and delays in this area will not affect visitors going through the main Sequoia National Park Entrance near Three Rivers, CA.
