Upcoming Road Closures in Saguaro National Park’s East District

TUCSON, Ariz. – Saguaro National Park will temporarily close three roads in the park’s east district for maintenance and regrading.

• The one-way portion of Cactus Forest Loop Drive will be closed Wednesday, October 16 beginning at 6:30 am. The two-way portion of the road from the Visitor Center to Javelina Picnic Area will remain open. Bicyclists and pedestrians who start their ride/walk on the one-way loop on Wednesday earlier than 6:30am will be allowed to complete their loop. The road will reopen October 17.
• Mica View Road will be closed Monday, October 14 through Tuesday, October 22. Mica View Picnic Area can still be accessed by visitors hiking in from the Cactus Forest Trailhead on Broadway Blvd.
• Camino Loma Alta will be closed from the park boundary to the Loma Alta Trailhead Monday, October 14 through Tuesday, October 22.

The unpaved roads to Mica View Picnic Area and Loma Alta Trailhead will be regraded to repair damage from routine vehicle use and monsoon rains. Each road closure is expected to last for one week and will reopen when regrading is complete.Cactus Forest Loop Drive will be closed for one day to allow heavy machinery and large trucks to move safely to and from Mica View Road as they drop off material.
