CALAIS, ME – Saint Croix Island International Historic Site (Saint Croix Island IHS), in response to guidance from the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services, is announcing modifications to operations to support federal, state, and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Effective April 17, 2020, Saint Croix Island IHS visitor center and grounds will be closed until further notice for the purposes of maintaining public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. This order is consistent with State, Federal, and public health directives.
The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, local communities, and partners at Saint Croix Island IHS is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working service-wide with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website nps.gov/sacr.
The NPS encourages people during this pandemic to adhere to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and local public health authorities.
The NPS encourages people to take advantage of the many digital tools already available to explore Saint Croix Island IHS, including:
