You are invited to join a park ranger and experience the wonders of winter in Rocky Mountain National Park! A variety of programs and activities will be available on the east side of RMNP (located near the town of Estes Park) beginning in late January 2026.

Explore wintertime wonders of the Rocky Mountains during a ranger-led walk, talk or activity. All ranger-guided experiences are free, great for visitors of all ages, and open to the public.

Information on Ranger-led programs and activities is available at Beaver Meadows, Fall River, and Kawuneeche Visitor Centers.

 

All winter programs are dependent on appropriate conditions. Winter programs and activities can be canceled last minute due to weather or lack of adequate snow or ice.

RockyLAB Pop into RockyLAB and dive into hands-on fun! Drop-in anytime between 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. to explore various short science and nature activities. Perfect for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by an adult. What will you discover?
Fall River Visitor Center Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Drop in anytime, plan to stay at least 15-30 minutes to enjoy a hands-on activity January 23 - April 26, 2026
Rocky Mountain Winter Speaker Series Our Rocky Mountain Winter Speaker Series returns in 2026, with rangers, researchers, and historians! Rocky Mountain Conservancy and Rocky Mountain National Park are excited to announce that our Winter Speaker Series is back again for 2026, and we hope you’ll join us!

Ice Fishing Sprague Lake may be frozen, but the fish are still biting! Bundle up and give ice fishing a try. Traction devices recommended. Sprague Lake Fridays and Sundays 10 a.m. Drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and noon; no prior experience or equipment is needed January 25 - March 22, 2026
Beaver Meadows Visitor Center Architectural Tour Uncover the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center! Explore the close connections with a ranger as your guide. Beaver Meadows Visitor Center 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, starting on January 28 3 p.m. This program is 1-Hour long January 28 - April 22, 2026
Kid-friendly Snowshoe Walks Step into the basics of snowshoeing! Explore Sprague Lake in the winter. These beginner snowshoe walks are perfect for the whole family.

Snowshoes are not provided, so participants are responsible for bringing their own winter gear. Dress for the conditions.
Appropriate winter clothing is required including waterproof shoes; no gym shoes/tennis shoes are allowed.

Snowshoe Hike Experience an afternoon of winter exploration! Snowshoe walks travel through hilly, uneven, snow-covered meadows or forests within the park. This program is for participants 8 and older.

Snowshoes are not provided, so participants are responsible for bringing their own winter gear. Dress for the conditions.
