Rocky Mountain National Park offers opportunities year-round for family fun, adventure, solitude, and recreation!

There are many places to explore throughout the park!

 

How to Get to Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is located in northern Colorado approximately 75 miles northwest of the City of Denver. There are entrances to Rocky on both the east and west sides of the park. On the east side of the park two entrances are located near the Town of Estes Park, Beaver Meadows and Fall River Entrances.

On the west side of the park, the Grand Lake Entrance is located near the Town of Grand Lake, Colorado.

A digital map of Rocky Mountain National Park is available online and on the NPS App.

Trail Ridge Road is a seasonal road that is open during the summer season. This road connects the east and west sides of the park and crosses over 12,000 feet in elevation. From mid October to late May, weather and conditions permitting, Trail Ridge Road is closed to through travel.

To drive from the east to the west side of RMNP during the winter season, use alternate routes outside of the park.

Visitor Centers
A great place to start any visit to Rocky Mountain National Park is at one of the park visitor centers.

Rocky Mountain National Park has five
visitor centers where you can ask park staff questions and to learn more about what to see and do during your stay.

You can also get your NPS passport stamp, pick up Junior Ranger books, discover what programs are happening during your stay, see the park movie, and more!

On the East Side of RMNP - Explore the Bear Lake Road Corridor

Many of the park's most visited destinations, including Moraine Park, Sprague Lake, and Bear Lake, are located along the Bear Lake Road Corridor, located near the Beaver Meadows Entrance to RMNP. Visit the Bear Lake Road Corridor webpage to learn more!

Explore the West Side of RMNP and the Kawuneeche Valley

Located near the Town of Grand Lake, the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park has many fun places to discover.

Look for wildlife in Coyote Valley. Take a hike on the East Inlet, Green Mountain, or Colorado River Trails. Enjoy a drive on Trail Ridge Road. Go camping at Timber Creek Campground. Take a step back in time and explore the Holzwarth Historic Site!
