Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits, Information
Water is necessary to sustain life. For those planting crops or raising animals, reliable sources of water are all the more important.
While many early homesteaders often chose land next to rivers and streams, later homesteaders often no longer had these choices and had to innovate ways to extract water from the earth. This often involved erecting windmills, digging wells, and innovating drainage systems to make the most of water once it became available.
