Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits, Information
Early homesteaders often arrived at their claims using horse and buggy. By the late 1880s, trains were crossing the country. The 1920s saw the birth of the automobile. Given the duration of the Homestead Act (1863-1986), some homesteaders even arrived at their claims by plane.
